Pyromancer Class coming to AQWorlds

The hot new art Dage created below was inspired by the upcoming Pyromancer Class in AQWorlds, the full skill list can be found on the AQWorlds Design Notes. We expect to have this class in AQ3D as well, but as you are reading this, we’re actually making the 3D game work in flash. Check back for information on when the Alpha testing resumes!

The last sheet of Paper

This is one of those special stories that no other game studio would share… 6 months ago, when we moved into the new studio (just before starting the AQ3D: Legends of Lore Project), I sifted and sorted through all my notes – easily 4 feet tall. All these papers are filled with ideas, sketches, interface designs, etc. While going through them, I found a lot of unused paper (120 to 150?) and made a promise to make sure they will be used for the future and not be discarded.

The non-member Pyromancer Class is coming out this Friday! You must complete the Xan storyline (/join volcano, /join xantown, /join xancave) in order to start earning this class (It will require 84 Shurpu Blaze Tokens) or you can buy it from Itzachi for 2,000 AC as usual.

There will be a Pyromancer Shop from Warlic, which will be selling the class & items like Pyromancer Mask, Emblazoned Pyromancer Armor & more!

If you want to look like Xan, it’s your lucky day. The shop will also be selling his armor AND helm.

Here is info about the Shurpu Blaze Tokens:

Once you complete the Xan Storyline, speak to Warlic in the Shurpu Library. He will have some daily quests that will reward you with Shurpu Blaze Tokens when you complete them. Non-members can earn up to 14 a week but there is a special Member version of the quest that will reward Members with up to 21 Tokens per week.

 

MEMBERS: You will only be able to do ONE of the quests per day. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE MEMBER VERSION!

It’s Friday… it’s also release night and there’s lots in store for you on the weekend! The next Chaos Lord Saga is starting in AdventureQuest Worlds! The winning entry of the Doomwood Art contest has also been posted. Meanwhile, EpicDuel‘s BIG WA….huh? Pushed back, seriously? Aww man. Um, EpicDuel is going to be marketing what they’re gonna release NEXT WEEK! In DragonFable, the end of Chapter 2 is approaching. MechQuest‘s Planet Romero is complete and new items are being released as the team prepares for the coming onslaught of the ShadowScythe armada. In AdventureQuest, you can now battle the final boss of the Bizzare Flecks saga.

AdventureQuest3D – Legend of Lore Alpha Test

In a surprise twist, the crazy and unscripted Sock Puppet Show ended with the start of Alpha Test #1 for AQ3D: Legend of Lore. The test server is currently offline, but if you haven’t gotten your 250 points yet, do not worry! Alpha testing will continue next week after some bugs are fixed.

There are SO MANY bugs to fix… including the bug where if one person jumps, everyone else does too! If you check Artix.com (soon), you’ll be able to see the server status to show when Alpha is playable.

American Ninja Warrior… Chairman Platinum on TV?!

This Sunday, “American Ninja Warrior” will be airing on G4 and there’s a good chance that Chairman Platinum will be there running the obstacle course! Roam (you may recognize him from this HeroMart video) wanted to be on the “American Ninja Warrior” show. Knowing it was a bad idea, I decided to join in! Chairman Platinum found out about this… and made a submission video as well. The people in charge of the show approved all three videos! In the excitement of wanting to compete with Chairman Platinum, an agreement was made that if I won, we could get OverSoul back… but if he won, he would get the entire game studio! O_O You know what they say: “Go big or go home.” We were anxious to see who won, but contestants are unable to reveal anything until after the episode airs. We do not know if Roam or Chairman Platinum will appear on TV yet, but it will be easy to tell if they do!

It is official… sock puppets told us so.

Naming AdventureQuest 3D was one of the most challenging things to do. We originally wanted to call the game LORE (Land of Rising Evil), which was the original name planned for AdventureQuest. For legal reasons, over 5 dozen more name, including LORE, could not be used. From the votes in Twitter, Facebook and the Artix.com comments, the winner was clear.

Announced LIVE in a puppet show?!

Thanks to whoever reminded Artix of his tweet about announcing AQ3D’s name in a puppet show! The sewing machines will be coming out in between running a booth in the MetroCon convention… for possibly the most embarrassing idea in AE History! Join in the fun next Thursday (possibly) for some puppet  naming chaos live on AQWorlds. Questions will be answered about the game as well as an update on the alpha testing, which AQWorlds Members are invited to participate in.

Quest Status: 1.5 of 15 minutes of fame obtained

The local NBC News Channel 8 did a story on Artix Entertainment! A lot of the team made it onto the segment, including Cysero’s shoeless feet, Beleen’s pink ball seat-thing and even Daimyo! They showed an amazing glimpse of the game development team which releases weekly updates in the segment, watch it here.

Major progress has been made on this gaming project, a whole new “good old times” is in store for this new saga as it quickly approaches.

As the 10 year anniversary of AdventureQuest approaches, excitement is growing for the lineup of games:

• AdventureQuest Worlds – Guilds, Nulgath VS Dage War, Friday the 13th and more!
• OverSoul – Artix is going to win it back from EbilCorp’s Chariman Platinum (come back tomorrow for the full story)!
• AdventureQuest 3D – … which still doesn’t have an official name!

Just in time for the MetroCon Convention

Artix Entertainment will be running a booth in the MetroCon Convention in Tampa, FLA. Many guests, including voice actor who did Piccalo for DragonBall Z will be there! We will be running a panel at 10AM on Saturday, just look for a a crazy game developer running around battling undead in the paladin armor below.

Armor Making 101

If you follow Artix on Twitter, you may already know that we’ve been learning how to make a cosplay armor! Team members, including Dage, Galanoth and Faith all cram inside a greenscreen room, setting up tables (stations)… with a giant box of mats, and a LOT of boxes full of action figure shipments! The armors were traced onto the gym floor mat, then the pieces were cut out and glued together. The whole ‘armor’ is spray painted in black and colored.
